Next Call of Duty Game Named, Dated

Activision confirmed today that the next Call of Duty game will be arriving on November 9 and will be titled Call of Duty: Black Ops. The press release comes on the heels of the Black Ops website going live today, perhaps a bit early, in anticipation of the exclusive GameTrailers TV reveal of the first trailer for the title very late tonight/early tomorrow morning at 12:40 AM on Spike TV.

Despite beliefs that the game would take place in Vietnam it now appears, according to Kotaku, that the title will have modern setting.

The title is being developed by Treyarch. In the press release, the Studio Head, Mark Lamia said, “We can’t wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops. We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts.”

The game will “take players behind enemy lines in an entirely new chapter in the groundbreaking and record-setting, No. 1 first-person action series of all-time.”

Fans will be able to learn more about the game after the trailer goes live tonight via the game’s website, www.callofduty.com/blackops and also via Twitter at JD_2020.
