Gears of War 3 Details Emerge

Some Gears of War 3 details have apparently emerged from Russia. A Russian magazine gave the first details regarding Epic’s conclusion to Marcus Fenix’s trilogy. I use the term “Marcus Fenix’s trilogy” because the magazine reveals that Epic has many more games planned that will be set in the Gears of War universe. Marcus’ fight is only one part of a greater Gears of War universe that will be featured in game’s that apparently will span different genres.

In addition to the news that Gears of War 3 won’t be the final Gears of War-themed game, details also revealed just how different a world Gears of War 3 takes place in.

According to the article, the world of Gears of War 3 is set 18 months after the events of Gears of War 2 flooded the planet. With so much of the planet covered in water, people have broken up into “tribes” and travel together in flotillas across the oceans of the world. The COG has collapsed and there is no more governmental rule.

One of these flotillas is called “Raven’s Nest,” which is a large, man-made island built of strung-together warships. According to the article, much of the game’s action will take place on Raven’s Nest.

In addition to new-comer Anya (who is finally joining the action!) there will also be (SPOILER ALERT) Marcus Fenix’s father, Adam Fenix.

Marcus’ fight will be aided by “Silverbacks,” which are essentially Mech’s; and, according to Epic, the difficulty of Gears of War 3 will be dialed down. According to Epic around 60% of players didn’t finish Gears of War 2. That, my friends, isn’t just amazing, it’s a tragedy.

Look for more details to emerge soon about Gears of War 3, and check out the translation over at the Epic forums.
