POP: The Forgotten Sands Details Unveiled for the Wii

Today, Ubisoft unveiled details about the Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, which will be available this May and is being developed by Ubisoft’s Quebec City Studio. In addition to revealing information about the Wii version of the game, which is also being developed for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, Ubisoft released a couple of screenshots, too, which are looking awfully impressive for the Wii.

The story will follow the prince as he leaves his father’s kingdom to prove his worth. The prince must harness his abilities and use them to survive against numerous foes and to save a mystic palace from “unfathomable evil.”

The game will capitalize on the Prince’s legendary abilities to maneuver through his environment and to manipulate the world around him. The Prince will have the power to move sand, allowing him to discover new areas and secrets. He will have to maneuver around traps and environmental puzzles while fighting all types of enemies. In addition, the game will feature numerous bosses and incredibly advanced graphics, as can be seen in the screens below.

Clearly, Ubisoft Quebec City is focusing on The Sands of Time and The Warrior Within for inspiration as they craft a unique, action-packed game in the Prince of Persia universe. After last year’s departure from the series’ typical gameplay and graphical style in Prince of Persia, it seems that Ubisoft is returning to what the fans really loved about the series and it looks like it’s ready to conquer the Wii and perhaps even provide a third-party hit on the platform.
