Next Assassin’s Creed Game Set in Rome

8 Million Copies of Assassin’s Creed 2 Shipped; Next Game To Star Ezio Again

February 9, 2010 – The next Assassin’s Creed game will take place in Rome and will star Ezio Auditore da Firenza again. The new game will see Ezio striking at the heart of the Templar’s after the conclusion of Assassin’s Creed 2, in which Ezio infiltrated the Vatican.

The news regarding the next Assassin’s Creed title came during an investor conference call as Ubisoft discussed its third quarter 2010 fiscal results. The game is set to be released before April, 2011 and will most likely feature an online element as well.

The announcement of a new Assassin’s Creed game is no surprise given the news that Assassin’s Creed 2 has shipped 8 million copies for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with a PC version coming soon. The series has been a massive hit and it seems that Ubisoft will be pulling out at least a few more titles in the series given the revelations hinted at during the conclusion of Assassin’s Creed 2. We may be in for another ride with Ezio, but at some point, Desmond will have to kick some Templar ass in modern times.
