Pre-Order StarCraft II at GameStop and Get Beta Access

GameStop is offering a promotion in which gamers who pre-order StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will gain access to the current beta of the game.

The offer, valid only in U.S. stores, essentially offers gamers who are determined to purchase the full game an opportunity to play immediately. The game is scheduled to arrive sometime in this half of the year, and Blizzard is set to announce a release date in the near future.

The information, available on GameStop’s website says:

“Reserve StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and receive an invitation to the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty beta. Available online and in-store while supplies last. Once you receive your Beta Code your order cannot be canceled.”

You hear that, gamers? You can gain access to the highly desired StarCraft II beta but you cannot cancel your pre-order. I know that news just foiled a lot of scheming going on in heads around the Internet. Yes, GameStop was smart enough to ensure that only people committed to buying the game will get a beta code, but I’m guessing that if you want a beta code you want to buy the game as well.

StarCraft II has been years in the making and has been highly anticipated since the 1997 release of StarCraft, which is still being played around the world today. It is one of the most successful RTS games of all time, and coming from the pedigree of Blizzard Entertainment it can be expected that StarCraft II will be just as popular and excellent.
