Alan Wake Arriving on May 18

Psychological Horror Title From Developers of Max Payne Arriving Soon

February 11, 2010 – Remedy Entertainment announced today at Microsoft’s X10 event that Alan Wake will be arriving in North America on May 18 and in Europe on May 21. The title has been in development for years.

Alan Wake will follow the story of Alan Wake, a bestselling writer who moves to a small town in the Pacific Northwest in order to try and cure his writers block. The small town, Bright Falls, is a picturesque landscape of mountains, forests and lakes. But, it doesn’t remain pleasant for long. Alan’s wife, Alice, disappears and he falls into a nightmare world in which latest work is coming to life and threatening to consume him.

Alan Wake will be a story told in an episodic, chapter format. It will utilize light as the main force combating the enemies that wait in the dark and the daytime will see respites in the action as Alan can explore the town, talk to the citizens, and try to solve the mystery of his wife’s disappearance. First showcased at E3 in 2005, Alan Wake has seen several delays but finally appears ready to arrive.

In addition to the release date pre-order bonuses were revealed for the title. Among them are avatar items, a dashboard theme and making-of videos.
