BioShock 2 Launching With Midnight Openings Across America

Media Blitz Ahead of BioShock 2’s Launch Begins With Trailer

February 3, 2010 – 2K Games highly anticipated survival-horror shooter, BioShock 2, will be available at midnight in more than 2,500 GameStop and Best Buy stores nationwide. 2K announced the massive midnight openings in correspondence with the release of a 3 minute, 15 second-long trailer that debuted last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

A comprehensive list of GameStop stores that will be open at midnight is not yet available but gamers can find out if their local store will be open by calling or inquiring within. In the next few days, anticipate a list similar to the one released by GameStop for the midnight release last week of Mass Effect 2 and MAG.

Pre-orders through GameStop will receive two bonus characters, Blanche the Actress and Zigo the Fisherman, both of whom can be used in the game’s multiplayer mode.

Cristoph Hartmann, president of 2K Games said, “One of the most exciting aspects of the original BioShock was how our fans responded with adoration for the game, from creating homemade Big Daddy suits to their own BioShock-inspired art and videos. We felt it was only fitting to reach out to those passionate fans with nationwide Return to Rapture midnight openings where they can pick up their copy of BioShock 2 as early as possible.”

The game will take place 10 years after the events of BioShock. Players will take on the role of the first Big Daddy, a prototype with extraordinary powers who is searching for answers about why they were awakened and trying to survive.

The trailer that was first seen on NBC last night can be viewed below in all of its HD glory.

Bioshock 2 was developed by 2K Marin and will be published by 2K Games. It will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on February 9 in North America and February 12 in Europe.
