NBA 2K10 Nets 2 Million Sales

Tenth Edition of NBA 2K Series Nets Enormous Sales Since October 6 Release

February 3, 2010 – Yesterday, 2K Sports announced that the latest game in their annual professional basketball series, NBA 2K10, surpassed 2 million sales. The company says that the sales represent a 60% increase over sales of last year’s NBA 2K9.

NBA 2K10 was released on October 6 and features Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers on the cover. It was critically well received, with an average Metacritic score of 84% on the PlayStation 3 and 83% on the Xbox 360. It also is less expensive than EA Sports’ NBA Live 10, which received an 81% average on the PlayStation 3 and an 80% average on the Xbox 360. The two titles were remarkably similar in critical reception but, when faced with the choice of paying $39.99 for NBA 2K10 versus $59.99 for NBA Live 10 I’m guessing a lot of gamers chose the cheaper option for their NBA experience.

Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K Games said, “We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished this year with NBA 2K10, and this milestone is another fantastic reason to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the NBA 2K franchise. We would like to thank all of our loyal fans for their dedicated support and look forward to the continued success of this title.”

NBA 2K10 was developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii and PC.
