War Update Coming to Team Fortress 2

Impending Update Includes Exclusive Seventh Weapon to Be Awarded to Either Solider or Demoman Class Based Upon “Votes”

Valve has an impeding Team Fortress 2 update on the way for the PC. The update, named The War Update, will include new maps, new “surprises” and three new weapons for both the Soldier and Demoman classes.

Most intriguingly, Valve revealed that a seventh, as of yet unknown weapon will be released to either the Soldier or Demoman class, but not to both. The unique twist to the update is that the winner of the exclusive seventh weapon will be determined by a “vote”. The voting will be determined by kills – Valve’s latest twist is promoting healthy competition between players who love the Demoman and players who love to play as the Soldier. Both classes wield heavy weapons, and are superior front-line and defensive options, and this week, they will be viciously pitted against each other as they fight for the seventh weapon. As Valve put it in their update news, “The more Demomen you kill as the Solider class will ensure the Soldier gets the weapon at the end of the week. The more Soldiers you kill as the Demo will help the Demo class get the exclusive seventh weapon.”

Valve is offering players the ability to check on the scoreboard via the War Update Hubpage, which is also where the weapons, maps and surprises will be revealed as the week moves on. So, before the update hits your PC’s, get out there, rack up kills and vote for your side.

As of today, December 12, the Soldiers lead the Demomen with 1,429,578 dead Soldiers and 1,555,745 dead Demomen.
