Netflix Considering Move to DS

A survey issued by Netflix suggests that the company is studying whether they ought to bring service to Nintendo’s DS, which is the world’s most popular handheld gaming device.

The survey, dug up by Kotaku, asks, “How likely would you or someone in your household be to instantly watch movies and TV episodes on your Nintendo DS via a Wi-Fi network?” The move would mark Netflix’s continuing emergence into the console market as it is already offering streaming films and TV episodes via Xbox LIVE and has announced plans to come to the Wii and the PlayStation 3.

Netflix offers thousands of movies for $8.99 per month and allows customers to receive DVDs in the mail and also enables customers to stream releases onto their TV using an internet connection.

The Nintendo DS has a North American install base of more than 30 million units and the DSi XL, which made it’s debut last year in Japan, will be coming to the US on March 28, further expanding the handheld’s reach.
