First Official Halo: Reach Screens Leaked

Ten New Screens Show Off Gameplay, Graphics, World of Halo Reach

January 20, 2010 – EB Games released (and quickly retracted, but not before the internet could get a hold of them) screenshots of Halo: Reach. The images, which can also be found in the February issue of Game Informer, are official screenshots from the game. They highlight the new direction the game is taking sans Master Chief, which we covered extensively last week.

Halo: Reach is a prequel to the Halo 1-3, and takes place on the human outpost of Reach, which is invaded by the Covenant at the beginning of the war. The game will focus on the fight for control of Reach and aims to return to Halo’s roots by making the Covenant more terrifying and vicious, which means making them more difficult to defeat and having them speak in their own language rather than in English. The shield and health system from Halo: Combat Evolved will be making a return as will many other features from the original, groundbreaking game.

The screens are a tantalizing look at this game, which is scheduled to be released during the holiday season of 2010. A multiplayer beta is scheduled for the spring, available to owners of Halo 3: ODST (what are you waiting for? Pick up a copy now!)
