Prepared to be Scared: The Evil Within Launches in August – Our Impressions So Far

The brain behind the Resident Evil series, Shinji Mikami, has set his sights once again on scaring the crap out of gamers. From what we’ve seen so far, mission accomplished.

Developed by Shinji Mikami and the his team at Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within loos to be what pure survival horror should be. The image above should be enough to set you on edge, and that’s just some fancy artwork created for the game, just imagine what in-game horror you may run across.

The story line is enough to give us nightmares, and this is without even seeing the extended video below.

While investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what’s behind this evil force.

The Evil Within – Extended Gameplay Video

The video is almost twelve minutes long, but if you are reading this without watching all eleven minutes and fifty seven seconds, you are only short changing yourself.

How about a short six second vine to maybe make you want to watch the longer video above?

Disturbing? Yes. Worth buying and playing in the wee hours of the morning in a dark room? Most definitely.
