There are a few things that almost never happen in the video game industry, developers giving out their games for free and diehard Sony and Microsoft fanboys admitting that the Wii holds anything over their consoles, just to name a couple. But perhaps the rarest occurence in the industry is the early release of a game. A retail store putting a game up for sale early is one thing, but a developer and publisher releasing a game ahead of schedule is almost never done. If anything, games are most often pushed back weeks or even months from their originally stated release date. That’s why it comes as such a shock to hear that Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days, the highly anticipated third person shooter from IO Interactive, will be available a week ahead of the original release date.
Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days will be available on August 17, and will feature non-stop hellish action as players work to escape the world of the Shanghai underground crime syndicates. A host of special bonuses is being given to pre-order customers, including an exclusive multiplayer map, an arsenal of high power weapons, and eight limited edition costumes. The game can be pre-ordered at most retail stores.
Commenting on the game’s early release, Niels Jorgensen, general manager of IO Interactive, said “The team has worked hard to deliver a game that’s different from the current trend of third person shooters and we’re so pleased to be able to share it with the world ahead of schedule. With development complete, why keep the people waiting any longer? We want to let gamers experience the game we’ve created and get them online betraying their friends in Fragile Alliance.”
