Dead Rising 2 Showing A Little Leg From The Bunnies

Chuck Greene, the main character of Capcom’s Dead Rising, is going to be taking a slightly perverse turn in DR2 with Capcom’s new deal with Playboy magazine. Hey, fighting off hordes of zombies can be a lonely war, ever hear of the comforts of war?

In the game players will be able to find magazines which will give Greene special upgrades and bonuses during the seventy-two hours of zombie hell. Amongst these magazines will be a special Playboy issue, but that’s not the only way players can check out the bunnies. Capcom’s arrangement with Playboy will feature billboards and ads featuring the lovely ladies from the 57 years of Playboy.

Seon King, Senior Director of Liscensing for Capcom, had this to say in the press release: “The Sin City-type environment in Dead Rising 2, Fortune City, is a natural playground for the Playboy Bunnies. We have integrated the Playboy brand throughout the game in ways that bring even more life to Fortune City and add to the user experience.”

Supposedly this is an “evolution” of the book system from the first game. Now I’m not one to decide what qualifies as a book, but if you’re just reading Playboy for the riveting articles then it may as well qualify. What do the readers think? Does real life advertising in video games work? Let us know in the comments! Whatever opinions you may hold, Dead Rising 2 will be available in the fall of this year on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Do you think Hugh Hefner knows what cross-platforming is?
