Activision CEO Mike Griffith Resigns

Mike Griffith, CEO and President of Activision publishing has resigned. Griffith, who works directly under Robert Kotick, CEO and President of Activision Blizzard, handed in his notice on April 23.

According to a report on Kotaku, he will stay on the board of the company for at least a year, serving as vice-chairman.

No reason has been provided for his departure, but there may be additional turmoil inside Activision due to the crisis emerging at Infinity Ward. Griffith, who would have been in charge of keeping the staff around, has failed to keep key members of Infinity Ward from departing for Respawn Entertainment. In addition, news is coming in today that a group of 38 current and former staffers at Infinity Ward have sued Activision for half-a-billion dollars for breach of contract and unpaid royalties.

We’ve contacted Activision for comment and will update you on any news regarding the resignation of Griffith.
