Zenonia 2 Coming to the iPhone

When it was released on the iPhone at the end of May 2009, Gamevil’s Zelda-esque RPG, Zenonia, was an instant classic. For many, the game’s highly polished graphics, addicting gameplay, and incredibly immersive story were what solidified the iPhone as a legitimate gaming machine. Next month, close to a year after the release of the original, Zenonia 2: The Lost Memories will hit the iPhone, offering the same addicting gameplay of the first while adding a few new features to keep the series fresh.

Arguably the most noticeable difference in the series’ second entry is the fact that there will be four playable characters, as opposed to the single character of the first game. Each character will posses their own traits and abilities, as well as a unique story line, which means that Zenonia 2 should offer roughly quadruple the play time of the original. Since the original took, on average, 20 to 40 hours to complete, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that Zenonia 2 has the potential to offer up to 160 hours of play. That’s unheard of for most games these days, let alone an iPhone title.

Zenonia 2: The Lost Memories will also debut a few new gameplay mechanics. Most noticeable of these is the player’s ability to fully customize their chosen character with more than 1,200 new items, weapons, and armor sets on top of some returning favorites from the original. Another large addition is the ability to use ranged weapons, a feature which was sorely lacking in the first title. The environment will also behave differently this time around, with players encountering everything from slippery ice to rivers of magma, all of which are fully interactive.

The game has also received a graphical overhaul, with even more polishing done to the familiar sights of the original Zenonia and new animations added for the many new spells, weapons, and environmental sets.

A multiplayer mode has also been announced for the more competitive players out there, although no details have been released regarding what this mode entails.

No specific release date has been given yet, although Korean publisher, Gamevil, has stated that Zenonia 2 should hit the iPhone’s App Store sometime next month.
