Borderlands, Gearbox’s RPG / Shooter hybrid has sold 3 million units; a strong indicator of continuing sales momentum in 2010. The title was 2009’s fastest-selling original IP and it will soon see its third DLC package, “The Secret Armory of General Knoxx”, appear, which should spur more sales and is strong proof that Gearbox is dedicated to delivering even more content to the game’s fans.
The news regarding Borderlands sales figures came today at DICE as Gearbox’s President Randy Pitchford discussed Gearbox’s philosophy as a studio and why they are so successful at turning out quality titles. In short, as he put it, they are successful because when they’re looking to hire people they have three requirements: “No drama, no dicks, no douchebags.”
Well put, sir. Well put.
