Harmonix Gets a Little Bit More Country
January 29, 2010 – If it’s Friday then it must be Rockband day. As sure as the sun will rise, Harmonix announced the latest batch of Rockband DLC, to be available next week on Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and the Wii. “Going Country Pack 03” expands the library of country songs available on the platform, by adding six new songs from some of the genre’s top artists, including Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, and Willie Nelson.
All this DLC will be available for the Wii and Xbox 360 on February 2nd and on the Playstation Network February 4th. Pricing is $1.99 (160 Microsoft points) per track and $2.00 (200 Wii Points) per track depending on your system of choice. You can purchase the entire pack for $9.99 (800 Microsoft Points). The full list of songs is below, all are master recordings.
• Kenny Chesney – “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy”
• Montgomery Gentry – “Gone”
• Rascal Flatts – “Me and My Gang”
• Sara Evans – “Suds in the Bucket”
• Trace Adkins – “Swing”
• Willie Nelson – “On the Road Again”
Hard for me to be really excited about this announcement, not being a country fan. I will say that Harmonix has been incredibly open about expanding the music library to include choices across a variety of genres and not just stick with the alternative rock and classic rock hits that much of the original Rockband catalogue was composed of. Of this group of songs, Willie Nelson’s famous “On the Road Again” and Chesney’s “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” are probably going to end up as the two most popular among the non-country crowd. Nelson’s for his own pop culture related fame and Chesney’s because the lyrics are likely to inspire some rather humorous renditions at parties.
As always, check back here each week for all the news on future DLC releases for Rockband.
