More Movie Rumors: Mortal Kombat Gets a Reboot?

First Two Not Fatal Enough for Warner Brothers, Apparently

January 26, 2010 – The boys over at Bloody Disgusting are reporting that Warner Brothers is kicking around the idea for a third Mortal Kombat film. There isn’t much else to the news other than, Oren Uziel in talks to pen the script.

The first two films, released in 1995 and 1997 were universally panned. Humorously enough, the sequel which carried the subtitle “Annihilation” used the catchphrase “destroy all expectations” on its movie posters. Audiences didn’t have to work very hard to do that, as the film did a nice job of that from the first frame.

Given the horrendous Streetfighter film released last year, and the truly horrific Tekken movie trailer that is now online, its hard to even be slightly excited by the prospects of another Mortal Kombat film. Maybe if they add in some ridiculous fatalities and up the martial arts action we can talk, but until then count me out.
