New Assassin’s Creed Game to Feature Ezio

New Information About Assassin’s Creed 2 Follow-Up Suggests It Isn’t A Full-Fledged Sequel

January 15, 2010 – Yesterday we reported that Assassin’s Creed 3 was in the works, but new information now suggests that game in question may be a follow-up to Assassin’s Creed 2 but not a full sequel.

Ubisoft announced yesterday that a new Assassin’s Creed game featuring both an offline and multiplayer component, was being developed by the same Ubisoft Montreal studio that developed Assassin’s Creed 2. It’s been revealed by CVG that the new Assassin’s Creed title will follow the exploits of Ezio, the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed 2, and will continue his adventures in Renaissance Italy.

A Ubisoft spokesman said, “The game will take place with the same hero, which is Ezio, and will follow-up the story that took place in Assassin’s Creed 2.”

This opens up the possibility that a true Assassin’s Creed 3 title will be coming sometime after the release date of “before March 2011” given to this new Assassin’s Creed game. It seems most likely that this won’t be Assassin’s Creed 3 because it is following Ezio’s exploits when the plot of Assassin’s Creed 2 hinted at a move to the present, where Desmond Miles has gained the assassin abilities of his ancestors.
