Be a Hero! Help Bungie Help Haiti

Bungie’s Campaign One of Many To Help Those in Haiti – Buy A Shirt, Buy A Bungie Good, or Just Play Halo Online to Help

January 15, 2010Bungie, the developers behind Halo have started an initiative to help those in need after the massive earthquake that has killed at least 50,000 people in Haiti. The poverty stricken country was struck by a massive 7.0 earthquake just prior to nightfall on January 12th. Because of the massive loss of life and because of the difficulties faced by those attempting to rescue, treat and feed wounded and homeless people in Haiti, huge amounts of funds are needed. The quake struck just off the coast of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti’s capital and largest city, devastating not only the citizens of the city, home to nearly 1/4 of the entire nation’s population, but also devastating and halting all government activity. The nation is in need of huge amounts of aid, and Bungie is pitching in with their “Be a Hero” campaign.

Bungie has created a special edition of their Superintendent tee, available for sale at the Bungie Store. Pick up a copy and they will donate 100% of the profits directly to the American Red Cross’ relief efforts.

In addition, Bungie has announced that any purchase of Bungie items at the Bungie Store from now until the end of February will see 100% of the proceeds go to the American Red Cross. That doesn’t include copies of Bungie games or items such as HD TV’s because Bungie doesn’t see profits from 3rd party items, but items such as hoodies, bag and tee shirts will contribute to aid for Haiti.

Finally, Bungie will donate up to $77,000 if gamers play Halo 3 or Halo 3: ODST between 00:01 AM Pacific Time on Wednesday, January 20 and 11:59 PM on Thursday, January 21. For every 1,000 gamers that play, Bungie will make a $100 donation. The only thing gamer’s have to do is wear a special emblem between those hours if they play online. Doing so will allow players to be counted and will make every player a hero.
