Arkham Asylum to Get Game of the Year Edition

British Board of Film Classifications Filing Includes Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition

January 15, 2010 Batman: Arkham Asylum will be getting a Game of the Year Edition. The game, developed by British developer Rocksteady Studios, was mentioned in the British Board of Film Classifications filings, making it seem concrete that the highly-regarded game will get a special edition replete with add-ons in the near future.

Batman: Arkham Asylum witnessed several add-ons during the past year, including map packs “Insane Night” and “Nocturnal hunter,” which were available on both the 360 and PS3. In addition, “Prey in the Darkness” was released for the PS3 in North America and on both the 360 and PS3 in Europe. PS3 owners were also able to play as the Joker on challenge maps. All of these add-ons may provide some hint at what a Game of the Year Edition would contain.

Batman: Arkham Asylum will see a sequel coming out later this year. The game, Arkham Asylum 2, was announced at the VGA’s in December.

Batman: Arkham Asylum follows a storyline which see’s the Joker being imprisoned in Arkham Asylum, a large insane asylum outside of Gotham City. Once inside the prison, the Joker escapes and Batman must work on his own to foil the Joker in his plot to gain access to the chemical Titan, which is being produced at the asylum. The game combined fighting with stealth tactics and was critically acclaimed, procuring a 92% average on GameRankings.
