Alan Wake DLC Confirmed

Survival Horror Title to Feature Episodic Content

January 7, 2010 – Confirming earlier rumors, it was announced yesterday that Alan Wake will have DLC content. During Microsoft’s keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Microsoft’s Entertainment & Devices head, Robbie Bach, revealed that the horror-survival game will feature DLC content.

The game, an Xbox 360 exclusive being developed by Remedy, the team behind Max Payne, will tell the story of Alan Wake, a thriller writer who moves to a small town to try and get over writer’s block. While there, his wife disappears and the world around him begins to resemble that of one of his stories. Years in the making, and several delays later, Alan Wake will finally be arriving on April 12.

Alan Wake is structured as an episodic game, taking place over a number of chapters. Because of that, it will be very easy for the team at Remedy to include more episodic content after the game’s release.

DLC has become an industry standard as a way to add bonus content to games after their release, for the most part replacing the once popular expansion pack.

No other details were announced about the DLC, which was originally hinted at in an interview with Alan Wake‘s writer, Sam Lake, last month on Gamespot.
