Sony: Playstation Home Reaches 10 Million Users

Playstation Home Reaches Milestone, Opens Uncharted 2 and Ratchet and Clank Home Spaces

December 18 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced today that their Playstation Home service on the Playstation Network (PSN) has reached 10 million users.

In addition, Sony announced the creation of two new home spaces: one for the critically acclaimed, multiple game of the year winner, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and another for Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. The home spaces will feature unique settings where gamers can get a feel for Uncharted 2 and Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time while viewing gameplay videos, playing mini-games and chatting with other fans. Sony also said that a home space for Motorstorm is in the works.

The announcement coincides with the PS3’s increasing success worldwide as prices begin to fall on the console. This, paired with the incredible critical success of Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2, among others, has fueled a surge in Playstation Home users.

Dan Hill, European Home Business Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) said, “Playstation Home is fast becoming the meeting place of choice between users and developers. Every new game space enhances the overall experience for consumers, offering more variety, more choice and more enjoyment from a Playstation Home session.”

The announcement comes on the heels of a tightly-contested November in which PS3 and Xbox 360 console unit sales were nearly even in North America according to the NPD and in the midst of the holiday season, the biggest sales season for console manufacturers and games developers.
