Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Details Unveiled, Trailer Released

Information Reveals Powers, Story in The Forgotten Sands

In a press release issued on Monday, December 14, Ubisoft revealed numerous details about Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, the spiritual successor to The Sands of Time, considered by many to be one of the greatest games released on the last generation of gaming consoles.

The press release revealed that The Forgotten Sands will tell the story of the Prince’s visit to his brother’s kingdom following his adventures in Azad. Upon arriving, the Prince finds that his brother’s royal palace is under attack and decides to use the ancient power of the Sand in order to save the kingdom from the attack. The game promises a storyline that finds the Prince learning to bear the mantle of leadership while dealing with the difficulties of wielding great power.

The game will take advantage of the Anvil engine, which was used to create the outstanding scenery of Assassin’s Creed II and the vegetation seen throughout the African savanna landscapes of Far Cry 2. It will feature massive set-pieces and large-scale combat situations, and promises the ability to manipulate your environment. It appears that the Sand powers will be able to work in conjunction with the Prince’s control over time to eliminate enemies through various means.

Despite being released around the same time that The Sands of Time, the film starring Jake Gyllenhaal comes to theaters, Ubisoft stressed to IGN that the game was in no way tied to the film.

In addition to the version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, there will be a unique version of the game coming out on the Wii, DS, and PSP.

You can see both the game trailer below, and as always, let us know what you think about the game.
