Left 4 Dead 2: “The Passing” DLC Announced

Survivors From Left 4 Dead Making a Return in Left 4 Dead 2 DLC

Valve today revealed in a press release today that Left 4 Dead 2 will be receiving DLC content that includes the survivors from Left4Dead.

The DLC will include an entirely new episode, set immediately after escaping from Savannah in “Dead Center,” in which the survivors from Left 4 Dead 2 will run into the survivors from Left 4 Dead. The encounter with Bill, Francis, Zoey and Louis will be named, “The Passing” and will be a fully-featured episode allowing players to play through it as a campaign, in versus, scavenge, and in a new, as yet unannounced co-operative challenge mode of play. Also included in the DLC will be one new “uncommon common” infected type and both a new gun and a melee weapon.

The new episode will, according to Valve’s Doug Lombardi, “become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign.” It will take place in a “small town in rural Georgia.”

We're back!

Yes, the survivors from Left 4 Dead are back. 8 player co-op to follow?

It is yet unknown whether you will be able to assume the roles of the Left 4 Dead characters. It seems highly likely, however, that there may be 8-person co-operative multiplayer action. Message boards are already voicing hope for diverging paths that work towards a goal and huge swarms of infected to fight off as an 8-person team.

“The Passing” DLC will be released in the spring for the PC and Xbox 360 and pricing will be announced nearer to the launch date.
