Max Payne 3 Delayed

Max Payne 3 Now Slated For Q4 2010 Release

Take-Two announced on December 3 that they would be delaying the release of Max Payne 3, the anticipated next step of the Max Payne story, until Quarter 4 of the 2010 fiscal year. The game, developed by Rockstar Vancouver, is aiming to reinvent the vengeful detective who, in the first two games, took on the Mafia of New York City, who had killed his wife and child. The newest game in the series will take place in Brazil a decade later, and will find Max Payne chubbier, bald, and tasked with protecting a wealthy couple’s child. During the course of the game, things will go downhill, and it will be up to Max to make things right again.

The news of Max Payne 3’s delay is another blow to Take-Two’s dreadful year, as 2009 has featured revenue losses, job cuts, and other game delays as well.

Take-Two is expecting a strong 2010, however. In addition to Max Payne 3, Take-Two has Bioshock 2, Red Dead Redemption, and Mafia II on its release calendar.

All the fans of Max Payne 3 should still be excited though, as next Christmas might bring the return of the detective turned vigilante killer.
