Thanks to Game Stop and their Facebook page, we scored an early release code for Quantic Dream’s upcoming cinematic interactive masterpiece Beyond: Two Souls.

Check out our thoughts, and a full video of one of the two demo levels, after the jump.

Quantic Dreams impressed the gaming world with their last release titles Heavy Rain. Beyond: Two Souls looks to further their gaming portfolio with another story driven game, this time with some known actors. The game centers upon Jodie, played by Ellen Paige, who has always had some sort of entity around her that can help her out of tight spots.

The first demo level opens with Jodie being taken away from her playtime and then being led to a small room for some tests. We are introduced to the entity, named Aiden, and shown how we can control this entity to view and interact with things in another room. The game uses some unique controls and concepts for the game play, with easy to use controls, once you get the hang of it. While the first level is pretty basic, the other level teaches you more advanced controls, but you’ll want to play the demo for yourself for that.

The demo download is 3 GB in size and the quality of the graphics explains why. For a demo, this is one of the best looking games to date. While the demo only shows off a few environments, it’s pretty obvious that the developer left no stone untouched. The level of detail is well defined and almost lifelike.

The voice acting for the game really is top notch and worthy of the accolades it has already received at the Tribeca Film Festival. Ellen and Willem both obviously went into this project as if it was a Hollywood blockbuster, as both brought their A Games.

Very seldom will a demo truly do a game justice, and most tell you that on their loading screen. This demo gives no such notice, and rightfully so. If this is what we can expect from the full game when it releases on October 8th, it can’t get here soon enough.
