Insomniac Games Teams Up With EA – Multiplatform Title In Development

Electronic Arts has announced that they now have a publishing agreement with Insomniac Games to bring their new franchise, which is unannounced at this point, to both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This is a fairly monumental day for the people at Insomniac Games because this is the first time in their 16-year developing history that they will be releasing on a console not owned by Sony.

Insomniac Games is most well-known for their platformer franchises, Ratchet & Clank and Spyro the Dragon. They are also the developers of the PS3 smash-hits, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. Now that they’ve announced a 360/PS3 release Insomniac Games claims to be starting an entirely new franchise.

What can we expect from this unannounced franchise? Well, Insomniac gave us no details so how about a little speculation? It could be reasonably assumed that another platformer could be in the run for development, judging by the success of Spyro The Dragon and the still-continuing series Ratchet & Clank. Could we be seeing a major fuzzy mascot arriving on multiplatform? Then again, they might be gearing towards the gritty, dark feel of Resistance and developing another shooter. Until more details are announced we really can have no true idea. But, knowing Insomniac Games’ history, whatever it is, it will most likely be fairly enjoyable.
