Steam for Mac Arriving Tomorrow

Valve just announced that Steam will officially be arriving for Mac computers beginning tomorrow.

According to the press release e-mailed this morning, the launch will feature Portal and Torchlight, both of which will be available to purchase, download and play immediately on Macs.

In addition, Valve announced that new Mac-compatible games will be released each Wednesday and will, apparently, “highlight specific functionalities of Steam on the Mac” each week. The theme of the Portal and Torchlight releases on Wednesday will be “Steam Play,” which allows gamers to purchase titles for one platform and then subsequently download and play them for all platforms. So, if you own PC versions of Portal and Torchlight, you will be able to download them tomorrow for free.

Valve also revealed that a Native OS/X version of their Source engine will be immediately available for developers on the Mac platform.

Look forward to the release of Steam tomorrow and the advent (finally!) of real gaming for Mac users.
