Kojima Goes Crossover Crazy

The Metal Gear Solid series has never been known for being down-to-earth. Now in addition to giant mechs, nanomachines, psychic bosses and invisibility you can include monsters and Wanzers in the list of bizarre things gamers have faced.

It was revealed yesterday that the series’ new PSP iteration, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, will feature some of the ferocious beasts from Capcom’s Monster Hunter series.

Set in 1970s Costa Rica, the game will have multiple beasts to hunt alone or with three of your friends via online play. Gamers who worry the series will start to look like Jurassic Park need not fret, the monsters will only be featured in a bonus mode. Though, there is a certain appeal about taking down the latest Metal Gear while fending off Wyverns.

In addition to monster hunting players will also be item collecting. It was announced today that Peace Walker will also link up with the latest game in SquareEnix’s Front Mission series.

The Wanzer mechs of Front Mission: Evolved will be upgradable with parts scavenged from Peace Walker bosses. The DoubleHelix developed title will be available for both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 but it’s likely on the PS3 version will contain this feature.

Japanese gamers will take on the role of Big Boss once again April 29. Gamers in the US and Europe will have to wait until June 8 and 17 respectively.
