BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Fighting Its Way to the US this Summer

Earlier today Aksys Games announced that the arcade sequel to popular 2D-fighter BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger will be coming to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in North America sometime this summer.

Continuum Shift takes the core of 2008’s popular anime-style fighter and adds a slew of extra features to entice owners of the original title.

Four new game modes are included, two of which are aimed at helping a wider audience grasp BlazBlue‘s deep combat system. ‘Beginner Mode’ will allow new players to jump right in and pull of combos with ease. Players can then graduate to ‘Tutorial Mode’ which will explain how to execute those same combos with the game’s full control scheme.

BlazBlue veterans will want to jump right into ‘Challenge Mode’ which has players trying to successfully complete combo challenges and missions for each character.

Finally, there is ‘Legion Mode.’ This different take on BlazBlue’s progression system presents players with a map of the fictional Kagutsuchi city. By completing fights on various sections of the map, gamers will build up an army by recruiting the foes they defeat. The ultimate goal is to take control of the entire city.

In addition to the new modes, three new playable characters; Hazama, Tsubaki and μ-12; four new stages and seven new songs composed specifically for Continuum Shift will fill out the package.

Online combat will be a multicultural affair with cross region play, chat and the ability to spectate matches.

TerminalGamer will bring you an update when a firm release date is established.
