Zen Bound iPad Screenshots Emerge

Zen Bound was one of the iPhone games that really tailored itself to the platform, and received pretty good reviews as a result. Now, the developer has released some screenshots of the iPad-optimized sequel, which will be ready for the iPad’s April 3rd launch, and we can see the advantages of the 9.7″ tablet over the iPhone.

The shapes begging to be bound look pretty nice, with detailed textures and some nice lighting and shadows helping out. Unconfirmed rumors say that the graphics portion of Apple’s A4 system-on-a-chip is almost (if not) identical to the one in the iPhone 3GS, capable of plenty of OpenGL ES 2.0 graphic effects goodness.

The iPad’s still a bit of a crapshoot as far as gamers go. Apple seemed to want to generate some gaming hype for it, but the showing at the iPad’s unveiling was a little anemic. Certainly, there seems to be plenty of horsepower under the hood, and plenty of willing developers, but some gamers will always be turned off by the touch-only controls.

However, the more we see promising games coming from experience developers, the more we think there could be something worth paying attention to. What we need to see now is a great strategy game. I wonder if we can use sheer willpower alone to get 2K Games to port Civ V.

Plus, you know that Plants vs Zombies is going to own the iPad.
