Square Enix Celebrates Success

Square Enix Sales Up 31 Percent, Net Income Up 48 Percent

February 8, 2010 – Square Enix announced that sales are up 31 percent and net income is up 48 percent compared to this time last year.

Square Enix was helped along by the release of Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XIII in Japan, both of which sold immensely well, and by the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum, which was published by Eidos, a division of Square Enix.

Square Enix President Yoichi Wada said, “Aimed at mid -and long-term growth for the Square Enix Group, we have made solid progress in our business plan set out at the beginning of the fiscal year. We are pleased with the success of our Final Fantasy XIII launch in Japan on December 17, where we successfully shipped 1.8 million units in this market with a PlayStation 3 installed base of 4 million. And, through our improved localization systems, we were able to set a March launch date in North America and Europe.”

Final Fantasy XIII will be arriving on March 9 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It has already been out in Japan since December 17.
