First Piece of Music from SEGA’s ‘Project Needlemouse’

Project Needlemouse Intro Music

February 3, 2010 – Go ahead and listen, I’ll still be here when you come back.

Doesn’t it make you feel all nostalgic inside? This is the first tidbit of music from SEGA’s much anticipated Project Needlemouse. After the abysmal mess that was Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 and the only marginally better Sonic Unleashed not many people were clamoring for another Sonic game. The series has fallen far from it’s place alongside Mario as one of the great franchises of the early 1990s. Now it appears SEGA is doing all it can to build the blue hedgehog’s reputation back up.

Details are scarce on the new title. The only confirmed fact comes from SEGA’s blog where a few weeks ago they revealed that Sonic would be the main playable character of this new “mystery” game. Speculation on the title points towards a return to a classic 2D adventure and retro-style. Capcom’s brilliant choice to bring the Megaman franchise back to its roots with Megaman 9 showed that gamers don’t mind a taste of yesteryear.

SEGA’s blog promises that tomorrow we will finally have an official name for Project Needlemouse. With music like this, it’s hard not to think it will be Sonic The Hedgehog 4. But hey, if it turns out to be Big the Cat and Shadow’s Grand Fishing Adventure, know that TerminalGamer will be right here to see you through the pain.
