Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 Confirmed

Scandal-Ridden Golfing Star To Continue Featuring in EA’s Golf Series

January 21, 2010 – EA Sports today confirmed that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will release in June for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and iPhone. The news comes on the heels of today’s public beta of Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online, a golf offering that will be available for both PC and Mac users through their browsers. The beta, which is free and open to the public for a significant amount of time, which, according to Mike Taramykin, executive producer, could be “a couple months.”

The online game is free for now during the beta phase but will eventually be subscription-based. It will attempt to keep gamers coming back for more by offering the ability to earn experience and money and essentially increase their rank and skills through strong performances. In doing so, EA Sports hopes to build a competitive base of fans who aim to improve their players much along the same lines that RPG fans keep coming back to level up their character.

In addition, players will be able to bet on whether other players will make the cut, risking either gaining or losing XP. Finally, the online community will allow players to make friends and create teams, with XP awarded to those with the largest teams.
