Ubisoft Reduce Expectations for Red Steel 2

Red Steel Expectations Cut To 500,000 Copies From 1 Million

January 18, 2010 Ubisoft has cut in half its sales expectations for Red Steel 2 on Wii.

The company originally predicted that the sequel to Wii launch title Red Steel would sell around 1 million copies, but now it has slashed that figure in half to 500,000.

The news comes after the publisher said that it plans to focus more on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this year. Several publishers, including Sega, have said that they plan to reduce investment in ‘mature’ Wii games.

In other news, Ubisoft’s Just Dance Wii title has achieved record sales for the company – brand manager Rachel Grant said it was “Ubisoft’s fastest-selling game on Wii”, showing that although the market for ‘mature’ Wii games may be dwindling, the market for casual Wii games remains buoyant.
