Modern Warfare 2 Still Champion of UK Charts
Longest Run On Top of UK Charts in Five Years
January 4, 2010 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues to dominate UK video gaming charts, as it spent its eight consecutive week in the number one spot. The game, developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, broke all entertainment records during its first week of release and has since compiled numerous year-end awards for 2009. It has already sold millions of copies and has been helped by a smaller than average holiday release schedule which saw many highly-anticipated titles such as Splinter Cell: Conviction pushed back to 2010.
Coming in at second in the charts was Assassin’s Creed II, which continues to sell well on strong word of mouth. Mario & Sonic at Olympic Winter Games rose two spots to number three followed by Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus. Fifa 10 fell two spots to number six and was followed by Just Dance, New Super Mario Brothers Wii, Mario Kart Wii, and, rounding out the top ten, Avatar: The Game.
