Ego Draconis Achievement Race Starting a Trend?

Sure hope so.

December 30, 2009 – Last week, CDV Entertainment announced that it will be awarding a hefty prize bundle to the first person to unlock all 41 Xbox 360 achievements for its upcoming game, Divinity II: Ego Draconis. Included in the package are a custom console, controllers, gaming lounge, and a gnarly looking wall-mounted dragon’s head. The game, developed by Larian Studios, hits store shelves January 5th.

Hardcore gamers have held achievement races since the current generation of consoles debuted, but rarely have the winners been awarded anything more than bragging rights. occasionally lets its members compete in an achievement race to earn entries in prize drawings. The Divinity II contest, also known as the “Quest for Glory,” may be the first time a publisher has used an achievement race as a promotional tool.
