Duke Nukem To Return Next Year

3D Realms CEO Hints at New Duke Titles for 2010 and Beyond

December 29, 2009 – Duke Nukem Forever may have been suffocated in development hell, but it seems the Duke is set to bounce back in a plethora of new games.

Scott Miller, CEO of Duke Nukem developer 3D Realms, has announced that there are ‘numerous’ Duke games in development, several of which will emerge in 2010. The games will mostly be aimed at the casual gaming market, but in addition to these there are ‘other major Duke games in production’.

Whether this means we’ll see a full-blown next-generation version of Duke Nukem for the Xbox 360 or PS3 remains to be seen, but after the high-profile demise of Duke Nukem Forever, this somehow seems unlikely (see ‘The Top Five Games That Never Were‘ for other games that didn’t quite make it out of the development studio).
