Overwatch DLC Released Today For Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

New DLC Features Two New Multiplayer Modes, Two New Missions

December 21, 2009 – Today, the second Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising DLC package, “Overwatch”, was made available via Xbox Live and is soon to follow for the PS3 and PC. In a press release issued this morning, Codemasters unveiled the DLC and a video highlighting the new content.

The Overwatch DLC will offer two new missions, “Friendly Skies” and “Hostile Takeover”. Friendly Skies will feature an effort to take out PLA anti-aircraft weaponry and establish a defensive position in order to maintain the position against a PLA counterattack. Hostile Takeover will feature a mission in which players must take over control of Armudan, a small town on the island, and hold it against an enemy assault.

The DLC will also include two new multiplayer modes, “Blindside” and “Supremacy.” In Blindside, the PLA must complete their objectives in as short a time as possible while the US Marines must defend their positions. In Supremacy, the PLA and US Marines will fight each other for vital strategic positions such as gun emplacements.

The Overwatch DLC will be available for 400 points on the Xbox Live Marketplace and will be available for $4.99 via PSN and free on the PC. The date for the Playstation and PC DLC availability has not been announced.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was developed and published by Codemasters and is a realistic military simulator in which the US and the People’s Liberation Army (China) fight over an oil-rich island off the coast of Russia. It was released on October 6, 2009 in the US and on October 8, 2009 in Europe.
