Modern Warfare 2 Continues to Dominate Charts
December 21, 2009 – Like some kind of gaming juggernaut, Modern Warfare 2 has bulldozed its way to the top of the UK Christmas charts.
Unlike the UK singles chart, which saw a close fight between X Factor’s Joe McElderry and Rage Against The Machine (a fight that was won by Rage, to the delight of many), there was a certain pall of inevitability hanging over the UK games chart this Christmas. Modern Warfare 2 has, deservedly, left all other games trailing in its wake this year, and has even scared some big-name releases into the Q1 release schedule (see: Splinter Cell: Conviction).
FIFA 10 made a late resurgance with a 24% jump in weekly sales, but it was too little, too late to catch MW2, which claims its sixth week at number 1.
However, a quick look at the chart reveals that Nintendo is the real winner – the Japanese giant has four games in the top ten, one of which (Mario Kart Wii) was released over a year and a half ago.

1. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision Blizzard)
2. FIFA 10 (EA)
3. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo)
4. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo)
5. Assassin’s Creed II (Ubisoft)
6. Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games (Sega)
7. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo)
8. Forza Motorsport 3 (Microsoft)
9. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo)
10. Just Dance (Ubisoft)
