Could Ghost Recon Future Soldier be the Next Ghost Recon Game?
December 21, 2009 – Ubisoft filed a trademark application last last Monday for “Ghost Recon Future Warrior.” The filing fuels speculation that a new Ghost Recon game may be in the works.
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, the most recent game in the long-running series, was released in 2007 to critical acclaim, following the success of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, in which a Ghost Recon team was placed inside Mexico during a violent upheaval of the reigning government. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 saw the conflict spread throughout the country and into the border region of the United States. The games featured squad tactics and many current and near-future technologies, including the use of spy drones to provide constant updates on enemy location.
While Ghost Recon Predator was announced last year, nothing has been heard of the title since. Ubisoft has made no official comments regarding the trademark filing, but the title may involve everything from a an iPhone or otherwise portable title to a renaming of the Ghost Recon Predator project.
