Final Fantasy XIII – 1 Million Sales On First Day of Release

Final Fantasy XIII Sells At Stunning Rate in Japan

December 21, 2009 – Square Enix, publishers of Final Fantasy XIII estimate that Final Fantasy XIII sales in Japan, where the game saw its first release, reached 1 million on the opening day as gamers crowded stores throughout the country.

Square Enix shipped out 1.8 million copies of Final Fantasy XIII in Japan based upon their estimate of roughly 6 million worldwide sales. The long awaited next chapter in the Final Fantasy series is due to arrive in North America and Europe on March 9, 2010. It will be published in North America and Europe on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360; however, in Japan it was released solely for Sony’s Playstation 3.

The series has totaled a stunning 92 million sales since its debut in 1987.
