Microsoft’s Greenberg Claims “Halo: Reach will be the biggest game of 2010”

Halo: Reach to Compete Against Final Fantasy XIII, God of War 3, Mass Effect 2 and Many Others in Crowded 2010 Field

With 2009 not even completely at its end, Microsoft is already talking big about next year’s release, Halo: Reach, which the company claims will be the biggest game of 2010.

“I feel confident that there’s nothing that will compare in size. Halo: Reach will be the biggest game of 2010,” Xbox executive Aaron Greenberg told ‘Gamasutra.’

While being direct in his challenge, Greenberg faces an impressive slate of games that will be released next year. The much anticipated Final Fantasy XIII finally see’s its North American release, Sony’s highly hyped God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Mass Effect 2, StarCraft 2, Alan Wake, and many others crowd a jam-packed field of competitors.

So will Halo: Reach be the big game event of 2010? Well, there is a good chance that it will be, gauging by how the other Halo games have been received in the past. Halo 3 held the record for the biggest opening day in gaming history until the release of Grand Theft Auto 4, an impressive feat considering Halo 3 was a first party title.

I think it is safe to say that the upcoming Halo will be a massive success, but can it compete against the mountain of releases scheduled for what could easily be the largest year in gaming?
