We just spent an intense twelve hours creating our QB, committing to UTEP, and taking them all the way to the National Championship. Was our time well spent, or should this game be left on the bench?
Read on to find out.
The College Football franchise was a yearly staple from 1993 until 2014, when the NCAA changed the rules, and several schools denied EA Sports the rights to their players names and likenesses. Since then, the only real way to get your college football fix was to dust off your PS3 or Xbox 360, and play one of the older titles. Now, thanks to the NCAA allowing college athletes to make money off of their name, image, and likeness (NIL) EA Sports is finally able to start up this long awaited franchise again.
We aren’t publishing a scored review yet due to a new game mode dropping soon, but stay tuned in the next few days for our full review for EA Sports College Football 25. For now, read on to find out how our Road to Glory unfolded.
College Football 25 Road to Glory Preview – Where to Start
Your first choice, once you have decided to begin your Road to Glory and on what difficulty, is to choose what kind of recruit you are. You can choose between a two, three, four, or five star recruit, and your beginning stats will reflect your choice. Next you’ll have to pick your position you want to play. We went with QB, but you can also pick running back (HB), wide receiver (WR), line backer (MLB), or a corner back (CB). We wanted to see as much action as possible, and what better way to that than to be the field general?
College Football 25 Road to Glory Preview – Where to Play
Once we finalized our QB, we had to commit to a school. Signing day is always a big step in a young man’s career, but we wanted a team that needed a QB. We chose the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) because it gave us the starting job. We could have picked other schools, but we wanted to play in Texas and we wanted to be QB1. Finding a school that will let a freshman be QB1 limits your choices, but there were a few.
College Football 25 Road to Glory Preview – NIL Deals and More
Now that we have a team, it’s time to get our QB up to par, not only in player stats but in academics and NIL deals as well. You are given a small number of energy points to spend towards weekly tasks, but be sure you spend some time studying each week if you have a test coming up. You can get benched if your GPA falls too low. The depth created with this system gives the player a decent idea of how the college experience goes for a student athlete. You’ll also need to spend time at practice each week, and be sure to spend any skill points you may have earned.
You’ll be contacted by a bunch of folks VIA your cellphone, and some of these texts will be for NIL deals. We did a commercial at a local restaurant and the team got to eat for free while we were filming it. We ended up with a bunch of more followers once the commercial aired, which led to even more NIL deals. The cellphone also gave us some moral choices. Once chick texted us wanting to break curfew to go to a party with her ( we declined), while another teammate texted us that they had the answers to an upcoming test, if we wanted to peak at it (again we declined).
College Football 25 Road to Glory Preview – Season End
The end of the regular season concluded with awards being given out and with the final CFB Playoff bracket being set. There’s really no time to enjoy your accomplishments while the playoffs are underway, and no resting on your laurels if you want to win it all. The weekly assignments are even more important as you prepare for your playoff run. Our team went in as the #4 seed and proceeded to dominate all the way to the National Title.
Once the season is over, you do have a chance to enter the Transfer Portal to pick another team, if you desire. We stuck with UTEP, but could have been QB1 for a bunch of other teams.
College Football 25 Road to Glory Preview – Conclusion
EA Sports has been wanting to create and release a college football game since 2014, but up to now there was just too many hurdles. With the release of College Football 25, they are well on their way to their own Road to Glory.
