The debut trailer for Gears of War 3 was shown last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. As Cliffy B revealed the game officially (despite Microsoft’s accidental slip-up on Thursday evening where they advertised the new game on Xbox dashboards around the world) the debut trailer rolled, and is awesome.
The trailer highlights Dom as a troubled COG warrior. He sports a full beard and seems resigned to dying as he falls down and watches a Locust warrior prepare to kill him. As Marcus saves him, Dom seems to come back to his senses as they are surrounded, fighting through heavy fog and smoke against a vicious enemy. Anya fights along the Gears and a massive, tentacled monster rears in the background. The game trailers a glimpse into the depressing world that remains in Gears of War 3, and finishes with the tagline, “Brothers to the End.”
Coming on April 5, 2011, Gears of War 3 will finish the famed trilogy. Frankly, I cannot, cannot, cannot wait to get my hands on Gears of War 3. There isn’t a more purely fun game experience out there today.
