The latest screenshots and video for Dead Island 2 has been released upon the world. We will attempt to prepare you for the upcoming sequel by dissecting them.

The story so far

Dead Island 2 picks up the Dead Island and Escape Dead Island storyline several months after the events on the Banoi islands. The United States military has put the Golden State under full quarantine which, for some, is a dream come true with a promise of a fresh start. California’s newfound bloody paradise is an action-packed playground featuring the acclaimed, seamless multiplayer for up to eight players who cooperate, compete or simply coexist in a truly social, new-gen multiplayer experience.

We gave  our first impressions of Dead Island 2 right after E3 and we were already impressed by what we saw. The second released video adds to our anticipation while also revealing some new and improved weaponry and new assault mechanics.

Slicing and dicing returns, as does the blasting way with shotguns, rifles and handguns. What we really love though, is the dual wielding action we see in the video. Seeing the mod attached to a handgun is cool, but watching said handgun freeze a zombie, and then smashing with a pipe wrench that is simultaneously held in the other hand is awesome sauce.

The melee weapons have a much better look this time around, and we have already spotted what might end up being our favorite: Nothing like a quad bladed weed whacker to show them zombies what’s up and then remove their head from the equation.

When all else fails, and you can manage to get a zombie on the ground, using your size eleven boots to squash their head like a bug is always effective, just make sure you are quick about it. The last thing you need is for one of these folks to turn into an ankle biter.

If that’s not enough to get you excited for this upcoming game, I’m not sure what is. If you need more images to ponder about, check out some new screenshots below.
