Gran Turismo 5: Delayed Until The Fall?

Long Awaited Racing Title Could Be Coming For Holiday Season

February 3, 2010 – The long-awaited release of Gran Turismo 5 may have to wait a few more months, at the very least. In an interview with Portugese gaming site Canarias Al Dia, Sony Entertainment Portugal’s head James Armstrong suggested that the game may see a fall launch in order to capitalize on the holiday season.

He said in a rough translation, “We believe that launching the product this fall, before Christmas, but not yet decided.”

In addition he added, “GT 5 is a great hope for Sony, a very important game for the company, which generates much income. We would have wanted it out before but we think the priority we are giving it our best. I’m very confident in this game that we launch this year and help us consolidate PS3 as the console that is large.”

The game was delayed in mid-January from a March release date and has yet to be rescheduled. The March release date was for Japan, the only country in which the game had been given an official release date.

Gran Turismo 5 boasts that it will include nearly 1,000 cars and over 20 tracks. It is being developed by Polyphony Digital and will be published by Sony. It will exclusively available on the PlayStation 3.
