2K Marin Explains Bioshock 2 Multiplayer, In A Way

2K Marin Senior Producer Clarifies That Multiplayer Wasn’t Just Shoved On

January 18, 2010 – For those of you concerned over whether or not Bioshock 2’s controversial multiplayer is getting sufficient focus, perhaps a recent conversation PC Zone had with 2K Marin’s senior producer, Melissa Miller will help ease your minds.

“Multiplayer is a big part of Bioshock 2 and it certainly wasn’t something where we thought: ‘Oh, let’s just shove a multiplayer mode on…We went to a lot of trouble [to ensure] that it was something that would fit properly into the Rapture universe and gameplay-wise.”

That’s really not much to go by, but hopefully it demonstrates that 2K Marin is attempting to put slightly more thought into the multiplayer. Originally the announcement of Bioshock 2’s multiplayer raised confusion and frustration by lovers of the single player, story-based Bioshock. Is 2K Marin simply adding this part of the game to appeal to the increasing rise of interest in multiplayer games?
